Storage Tips & Tricks
When planning to get some storage space for personal or business use, keep in mind that all storage facilities place certain restrictions on the kind of items you can store in your rented space. A rule of thumb is that any item considered “inherently dangerous” will not be allowed inside your storage unit. We’ve put together some info about the unit size and kind of items that you can store in your space.
Storage Supplies Sold : Boxes, locks, moving supplies, etc.
Items That Should Not Be Stored:Gas, explosives, dangerous chemicals, fire arms. “rule of thumb” expansion.

Tip Area For Food: Food should not be stored unless unopened and placed into heavy duty plastic containers that have a sealing lid. Any opened food items should be thrown out.
Tip: Moisture can seep up through cement so any sensitive items should be place on wooden pallets or boards. Racks are a great way to keep items off the ground.

To Maximize Space
Use Shelving UnitsFor small or awkward-shaped items, using shelving units can save space while staying organized.

Stack According to WeightHeavy items on the bottom and smaller boxes on top. Distribute the weight in packed boxes evenly. Make sure they are not too heavy for whoever may be lifting them.

Disassemble Large ItemsItems such as tables and beds should be taken apart and screws can be kept in a sandwich bag.

To Allow Easy Access
Make an aisleAt some point you may want to reach a box in the back. Making an aisle that extends to the back will help give you access to all your belongings without emptying the entire unit.

Label Every BoxStaying organized is important. So, keep a permanent marker close by for labeling. Labeling and keeping contents of the same type together will help you locate items.

Use Furniture SlidersPutting furniture sliders underneath heavy items such as couches can make a huge difference. Always have a buddy to help move large furniture to prevent injury.

To Avoid Damage
Bubble Wrap BreakablesReusable and transparent in case you need to see what's inside. Mark "fragile" on any boxes containing breakable items. Clearly label such boxes from all sides so that they can be easily identified by the lifters.

Fill Up BoxesFill up boxes to prevent internal shifting and item breakage.Wrap all fragile items separately. Pack them tightly into strong or reinforced boxes, filling any gaps with paper or filler.

Place Mattresses FlatOtherwise the padding will shift to one side over time. Placing the mattress on a pallet will also help to keep the mattress' form and ensure the mattress stays dry.

To Keep Out Pests
Use Baits and TrapsYou can also use dryer sheets in the corners of your unit, but we recommend changing every 30 days.

Tape Canvas Drop ClothesTo floors and walls before loading your storage unit. Canvas, as opposed to plastic, is resilient and absorbent.

STORING A VACUUMMake sure the vacuum bag is completely empty. Accidentally storing old food may bring unwanted guests.
